BARBO’S BEDBUGS!
Hi! I’m Scrabble! Meet my friends:
Beano, the overstuffed coffee-bean-like wombat, is perhaps more bat-like than coffee bean or wom. He has big black ears and wings.
Sock & mitten dolls and critters: two of our latest, named Vic & Trish, after my pathetically in-love teenage son and his girlfriend. Ah, that we should all experience such mutual adoration!
Work in Progress: Mortimer is our latest creature creation — check back soon for photos! He is fuzzy, variegated, kind of rat-like, kind of not, and just a tad bit mournful. Mortimer definitely needs some love and attention! Also under construction, a pair of arctic seals (parent and baby) - perhaps a little too realistic for my taste, but still very lovable!

Why Barbo’s Bedbugs??
Barbo’s Bedbugs are dedicated to the memory of my mother, Barby Barbo, who inspired their creation during her struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. My mother passed away on November 29, 2007. Even at the end of her life, my incredible mother was reaching out to others less fortunate with a gentle touch, a smile, and an encouraging word. I am attempting to tell the story of my mother’s great courage during this difficult time, during which we became best of friends, on my personal WordPress blog, Blythelight.
My mother taught me that life is a gift. Her passing has made me think a lot about what I am doing with that gift to help others. Barbo’s Bedbugs is an excellent opportunity to give back to our community, to contribute toward finding a cure for this disease, and also to bring joy to others who struggle with dementia. I try through these creations to commemorate my mother’s tenacious spirit, her sense of humor, and her loving heart.
Profits from the sale of Barbo’s Bedbugs will be donated to one of two important organizations: 1) the national Alzheimer’s Association toward finding a cure, or 2) Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (or other chapter of choice), an organization whose members were instrumental in helping me to help my mother to die with strength and dignity. Nothing - absolutely nothing - has been more important in my life. Please let me know at the time of purchase which you prefer.
My heartfelt thanks,
Blythe
